This looks very bad. People are looking for honest and open government and this will surely cost you votes. What do you have to hide? If its nothing, then open it up the way it should be. We’ve had enough of government behind closed doors in the current administration. Now you’re acting just like them. Bad idea.

You complain about unfair treatment by the media and lies being spread by the Democrats via the media. Maybe the logical way to counter that and to get your point across is to allow the media to cover your events. State your case honestly and you may be pleasantly suprised by the coverage you receive. I mean all the media, not just the Fox News people who are going to agree with you anyway. Closing your meeetings gives the impression that you have something to hide, which isn’t good for increasing membership and raising funds to support your platform. If the room is too small, get a larger one.

Go to my website for this week’s Tea Time radio spots. We may soon have another 200 stations on board. Thursday evening. I’ll have Tea Party tee shirts and “How’s that hopey-changey thing working out for you?” bumper stickers. To our liberal competition I say, “Be afraid. Be very afraid.” Oh, and I’m donating a PA, speakers and mike to the Lynchburg Tea Party. We need one often!

The comment wasn’t about the media response to the tea parties. It’s about being hypocritical. It’s also about this meeting, sponsored by the tea party, helping to accommodate Hurt in his “shadowy campaign” candidacy.

The announcment does not say “Lynchburg Tea Party ‘members’ ” so if you consider yourself a participant in the TP then come and bring a friend.

Will you be checking ID at the door for Tea Party members only? Are we able to bring our spouse if they are not a paid up member?

I am a little confused about the rules. How will you be deciding who can come and who can’t. Will we be going by the Tea Party email list – or just turning people away at the door? Do we have to buy tickets in advance?

I haven’t been at every meeting but I am interested in hearing what Sen. Hurt has to say. I have called his office many times to find out where he is going to be, but they won’t give me specifics.

Also, can I bring a friend?

“Press will be welcome to interview at the conclusion of the meeting. **This meeting will be closed to the media, and non-participants of the Lynchburg Tea Party. **
There will be no recording devices allowed without the express permission of the Lynchburg Tea Party leadership. This meeting is for those involved with the Lynchburg Tea Party and approved invited guests to communicate directly with the candidates, and those in attendance. No other candidates, campaign staff, or party workers will be permitted.”

Wow, now THAT is some real openness and transparency. Haven’t the tea parties been demanding this of others? Hurt’s campaign has been hiding all along, and now the LTP is assisting him. Way to go!
