Thursday’s Lynchburg Tea Party meeting will be a time for celebration and thanks-giving, hear from State Senate candidates, and a time to prepare for the fast approaching VA Legislative Session.

  • When:  Thursday, December 1st, 6:30 pm refreshments, 7:00 pm meeting.

  • Where:  Lynchburg Public Library, 2315 Memorial Ave, Lynchburg, VA 24501 (near EC Glass High School).

  • Candidate Forum for Ken Peterson and Mark Peake who are running for State Senate District 22.  Each candidate will get 10 minutes to field our questions.

  • VA’s Legislative Session is right around the corner!  Americans for Prosperity will speak about what’s coming up during Session, and how they can help us with local government issues.

(Tyler Foote, State Director, and Debra McCown, Southwest Virginia Field Director)

  • Praying for our nation and giving thanks for the opportunities before us.

Be sure to come at 6:30 for refreshments and to celebrate dodging a bullet.  That bullet was a Hillary Clinton presidency.  We know what we would have gotten if she was elected.  An acceleration of the push for big government control.  After so many years of Progressives (Rs and Ds) ruling our country, our culture and economy are like an out-of-control train that is precariously close to plunging off the broken bridge over a deep gorge.  Certainly Hillary, and all of the corrupt creatures she would bring into her administration, would have floored the accelerator on our train.

Here’s a partial list of Clinton’s “bullets” that were directed towards us:

  • a permanently liberal Supreme Court who makes laws and interprets the Constitution to fit their agenda,

  • completing the transition to government-run healthcare as our only option (this is what Obamacare was designed to do),

  • international trade deals like the TPP that surrender our sovereignty to foreign courts and bureaucrats,

  • wide-ranging amnesty,

  • open borders with great increases in “immigrants” and “refugees”, and

  • Common Core and more federal control on education.

Did we dodge all these bullets?  I would love to think so but I am realistic.  I certainly am not saying our country is out of danger.  But I do think we have been given an opportunity to at least slow the head-long rush over the cliff and hopefully start to change course.  I am just thankful for the opportunity.  We have to be vigilant and remind Trump that we are expecting him to deliver on his promises.  Same goes for State and local politicians, including the Congressmen we just elected and the soon-to-be-elected State Senator for District 22.

We have a lot — a lot — of work ahead of us.  Now our hard work begins.  Buckle up.

I am especially thankful to the Lord for giving us the salt-of-the-earth people who stepped up and rejected Hillary and the R and D progressive / establishment candidates around the country.  They are not the Elites or the indoctrinated masses who are currently rioting, but the common sense, hard working, salt-of-the-earth people who got out and voted because they see the cliff ahead for what it is and are not fooled.  I raise my glass to them, and pray the rest will rouse themselves out of complacency, indifference, indoctrination, or wavering and wake up.

Lyrics from “Salt of the Earth” (Rolling Stones)   (Here’s a good video for the song with old pictures of true salt-of-the-earth folks, many from the Great Depression.)

“Let’s drink to the hard working people
Let’s drink to the lowly of birth
Raise your glass to the good and the evil
Let’s drink to the salt of the earth

Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the earth

And when I search a faceless crowd
A swirling mass of gray and
Black and white
They don’t look real to me
In fact, they look so strange

Raise your glass to the hard working people
Let’s drink to the uncounted heads
Let’s think of the wavering millions
Who need leaders but get gamblers instead

Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio

And when I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and
Black and white
They don’t look real to me
Or don’t they look so strange

Let’s drink to the hard working people
Let’s think of the lowly of birth
Spare a thought for the rag taggy people
Let’s drink to the salt of the earth

Let’s drink to the hard working people
Let’s drink to the salt of the earth
Let’s drink to the two thousand million
Let’s think of the humble of birth”

From the people of the Lynchburg Tea Party we wish you the very best for a Happy Thanksgiving.  As you gather around the table today maybe you can share with each other what you are really thankful for.   For me, I’m thankful for the Lord leading a group of Pilgrims across the Atlantic Ocean during the worst time of the year only to be blown off course and land inside a little cove for protection.  It was there during that first year they lost half of those pioneers that came to America. They came to share the gospel message and start a new life with a new covenant known as the Mayflower Compact. They came seeking the freedom to worship God as they wished. This is how our country began and I thank God for those loyal souls who braved the storms and the harsh winters that would be heartbreaking and devastating. And God honored them in their dedication and as a result we have the greatest country the world has ever seen.

As the name implies, it is about giving thanks to God for the blessings we enjoy today.

And may God richly bless America again,

As president, Ronald Reagan understood American exceptionalism and the country’s special place in the world. Today, unfortunately, our leaders speak less and less about these unique qualities, failing to convey to citizens the fortunate circumstances of their birthright. To lift you up this Thanksgiving season, we turn to President Ronald Reagan’s Thanksgiving message from 1985. Share this with family and friends so they never forget how blessed they are to be citizens of the United States of America.

Where where you on Nov 22, 1963?

JFK-“We are Watchmen on the Walls of World Freedom”; “With an ISLAMIC EUROPE, AMERICA is ALONE to preserve heritage of ROME, ATHENS, JERUSALEM.”- Geert Wilders

On NOVEMBER 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, shots rang out as President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

The youngest President ever elected, being 43 years old, he was also the youngest to die, barely serving 1,000 days.

Kennedy was on his way to the Dallas Trade Mart to deliver a speech, in which he prepared to say:

We in this country, in this generation, are – by destiny rather than choice – the watchmen on the walls of world freedom.

We ask, therefore, that we may be worthy of our power and responsibility, that we may exercise our strength with wisdom and restraint,

and that we may achieve in our time and for all time the ancient vision of peace on earth, goodwill toward men …”

Kennedy’s remarks continued:

“That must always be our goal – and the righteousness of our cause must always underlie our strength.

For as was written long ago, ‘Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.'”

On April 27, 1961, John F. Kennedy addressed the American Newspaper Publishers Association at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New York, with a talk titled “The President and the Press”:

“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings …

We are opposed around the world by a … ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence-on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day.

It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.

Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed.”

Rev. Richard Wurmbrand was imprisoned in Communist Romania for 14 years. He stated of America in 1967:

America is the hope of every enslaved man, because it is the last bastion of freedom in the world.

Only America has the power and spiritual resources to stand as a barrier between militant Communism and the people of the world.

It is the last ‘dike’ holding back the rampaging flood waters of militant Communism.

If it crumples, there is no other dike, no other dam; no other line of defense to fall back upon.

America is the last hope of millions of enslaved peoples.”

Alexander Solzhenitsyn was imprisoned in the Soviet Union from 1945-53. He stated in Washington, D.C., June 30, 1975:

“At the height of Stalin’s terror in 1937-38…more than 40,000 persons shot per month! …

It is precisely because I am the friend of the United States … that I have come to tell you ...

Over there people are groaning and dying and in psychiatric hospitals. Doctors are making their evening rounds, for the third time injecting people with drugs which destroy their brain cells …

I would like to call upon America to be more careful with its trust and prevent those … using the struggle … for social justice to lead you down a false road …

They are trying to weaken you; the are trying to disarm your strong and magnificent country in the face of this fearful threat-one that has never been seen before in the history of the world.

I call upon … ordinary working men of America … do not let yourselves become weak.”

Dutch politician Geert Wilders was born the year John F. Kennedy was shot.

Echoing John F. Kennedy’s theme that Americans are “watchmen on the walls of world freedom,” Geert Wilders gave a speech in New York, September 25, 2008, titled “America the Last Man Standing”:

The United States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe

Europe … is changing … by Muslim mass-migration … with mosques on many street corners … controlled by religious fanatics …

Muslim neighborhoods … are mushrooming in every city across Europe.

These are the building-blocks for territorial control of increasingly larger portions of Europe, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city …

Many European cities are already one-quarter Muslim: just take Amsterdam, Marseille and Malmo in Sweden …”

Wilders continued:

“In many cities the majority of the under-18 population is Muslim.

Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Muslim neighborhoods.

Mohammed is the most popular name among boys in many cities …

In once-tolerant Amsterdam gays are beaten up almost exclusively by Muslims.

Non-Muslim women routinely hear ‘whore, whore’ …

In France school teachers are advised to avoid authors deemed offensive to Muslims …

The history of the Holocaust can no longer be taught because of Muslim sensitivity …”

Geert Wilders stated further:

“In England sharia courts are now officially part of the British legal system.

Many neighborhoods in France are no-go areas for women without head scarves …

Jews are fleeing France in record numbers, on the run for the worst wave of anti-Semitism since World War II …

…A total of fifty-four million Muslims now live in Europe … 25 percent of the population in Europe will be Muslim just 12 years from now

The numbers would not be threatening if the Muslim-immigrants had a strong desire to assimilate …

Half of French Muslims see their loyalty to Islam as greater than their loyalty to France.

One-third of French Muslims do not object to suicide attacks …

One-third of British Muslim students are in favor of a worldwide caliphate …

They do not come to integrate into our societies; they come to integrate our society into their Dar al-Islam …”

Wilders added:

“Much of this street violence … is directed exclusively against non-Muslims, forcing many native people to leave their neighborhoods, their cities, their countries …

Muslims are now a swing vote not to be ignored. Mohammed’s … behavior is an example to all Muslims …

If Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem …

Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed.

Mohammed himself slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza …

Islam means ‘submission.’ Islam is not compatible with freedom and democracy, because what it strives for is sharia.

If you want to compare Islam to anything, compare it to communism or national-socialism, these are all totalitarian ideologies …”

Geert Wilders concluded:

“There is a danger greater danger than terrorist attacks, the scenario of America as the last man standing ...

With an Islamic Europe, it would be UP TO AMERICA ALONE to preserve the heritage of ROME, ATHENS and JERUSALEM.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt had stated on Labor Day, September 1,1941:

“Preservation of these rights is vitally important now, not only to us who enjoy them-but to the whole future of Christian civilization.”

Winston Churchill addressed Britain’s House of Commons, June 18, 1940:

“Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization …

If we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.”

President John F. Kennedy stated February 9, 1961:

This country was dedicated to … two propositions:

and secondly, a recognition that this conviction could flourish only under a SYSTEM OF FREEDOM..”

Kennedy continued:

“The Puritans and the Pilgrims of my own section of New England,

the Quakers of Pennsylvania,

the Catholics of Maryland,

the Presbyterians of North Carolina,

the Methodists and Baptists who came later,

all shared these two great traditions which, like silver threads, have run through the warp and the woof of American History.”

On February 9, 1961, President Kennedy remarked at a Breakfast for International Christian Leadership:

Every President of the United States has placed special reliance upon his faith in God …

The guiding principle and prayer of this Nation has been, is now, and shall ever be ‘IN GOD WE TRUST.'”

John F. Kennedy stated in his Thanksgiving Proclamation, October 28, 1961:

The Pilgrims, after a year of hardship and peril, humbly and reverently set aside a special day upon which to give thanks to God

I ask the head of each family to recount to his children the story of the first New England Thanksgiving,

thus to impress upon future generations the heritage of this nation born in toil, in danger, in purpose,

and in the conviction that right and justice and freedom can through man’s efforts persevere and come to fruition with the blessing of God.”

THE ORIGINAL 13-A Documentary History of Religion in America’s First Thirteen States

Though John F. Kennedy was the youngest elected President, it was actually Theodore Roosevelt who was the youngest President, just 42 years old when President William McKinley was assassinated and he assumed the Presidency in 1901.

Theodore Roosevelt addressed the American Sociological Congress (Fear God and Take Your Own Part, 1916, p. 70):

The civilization of Europe, America and Australia exists today at all only because of the victories of civilized man over the enemies of civilization …

victories stretching through the centuries from Charles Martel in the eighth century and those of John Sobieski in the seventeenth century …

There are such ‘social values’ today in Europe, America and Australia only because during those thousand years the Christians of Europe possessed the warlike power to do what the Christians of Asia and Africa had failed to do – that is, to beat back the Moslem invader.”

Theodore Roosevelt stated in his Thanksgiving Proclamation, October 24, 1903:

“In NO OTHER PLACE and at NO OTHER TIME has the experiment of government OF the people, BY the people, FOR the people,

been tried on so vast a scale as here in our own country …

Failure would not only be a dreadful thing for us, but a dreadful thing for all mankind …

It would mean loss of hope for all who believe in the power and the righteousness of liberty.

Therefore, in thanking God for the mercies extended to us in the past, WE BESEECH HIM that He MAY NOT WITHHOLD THEM IN THE FUTURE.”
